del mar friday

been watching the first few days at del mar and the new turf course looks like it's playing fair. the main track has been speed favoring, but that's not a surprise, although the biases can change every day.

will look to make some big plays this weekend, but for this ho-hum friday card, just a couple of plays:

r1: tellmeitsnotso. dutton got off to a good start on wednesday and not sends out this cal-bred with blinkers and lasix. this is a weak field and we should get 4/1 or so.

r5: smuggler's run. cerin typically does well during del mar and this gelding should go much better in his first start off the brief freshening. i can easily see smuggler and the rail horse running 1-2 around the track.

Not sure if you're hanging around but I'd love your thoughts on ARTABEGOOD in the 7th. I really like the looks of her. I'm a little worried about Canani's filly but will probably wait for her 2nd try to back her.

i'm looking for a way to beat the canani firster, who has been training like a star, but don't like aretabegood. her maiden win, when she finally put everything together, was well below par from a pace perspective, so she should be giving up a lot of ground early. her last work at del mar wasn't very good as she appeared to have emptied out in the lane w/o much finish.
